Celebrating our Members
February Member of the Month
Shelly is always willing to take time to help anyone who needs it... Whether they are students, teachers in her building, or teachers from other buildings. She works hard to complete whatever tasks it is her students or her school need from her! She is willing to put in extra hours to make sure she is doing things correct, not for the money, not for the recognition, but she is doing it so she can be better at her job. Shelly’s heart shows when she teaches, and her hard work and commitment has not gone unnoticed. |
January Member of the Month
Devin is incredibly organized, thorough and data-driven. She balances IEP’s, special needs students, testing and accommodations... and manages to smile, be creative and teach with a beat to classrooms full of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. Every. Single. Day. Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious as she instills the love of learning into their little minds, while ensuring that every student in her classroom is safe, happy, and achieving growth. |
December Member of the Month
Glen can be a little ... dramatic. But that’s ok, because he’s led the Stansbury Stallions to 5 consecutive state Drama Championships since SHS opened! Glen has a passion for teaching and a passion for theater; he spends countless hours outside of the regular school day to produce and direct stellar seasons year after year. His students and drama parents are part of the team as they create sets, manage fundraising, sell concessions, and attend rehearsals night after night. In addition to managing the drama department at Stansbury, Glen can also be seen volunteering his talents throughout the community, directing and acting in plays in the Tooele and Salt Lake Valleys. |

Leading the Way
NEA Early Leader Institute
Ten teachers from the Tooele County School District are participating in a fellowship on how to retain early educators and school leaders. Through a collective action research project, fellows in the program will help to determine areas for improvement through collaboration and best practices. Fellows will present their findings to the school board and at the National Convention in March!
